Behind the Frontier

Jon Udell: Instant outlining revisited. »It's been quite a while since I wrote about instant outlining, a feature of Radio UserLand that's now also available in the OPML Editor based on the open source Frontier kernel. On that project's support site Dave Winer writes:

It's like Instant Messaging, but instead of just a little phrase or sentence, you're swinging whole outlines around the Internet.

Why do this? It's a different way to collaborate. I haven't worked this way myself, but others have. A recent firsthand account of collaboration on the OPML Editor project itself, posted by Dave Luebbert, does an excellent job of conveying what that experience can be.« [Jon's Radio]

Welcome to the OPML-Editor

Dave Winer hat eine erste Version seines lange angekündigten OPML-Editors zum Download freigegeben. Momentan gibt es nur eine Version für Windows, eine Version für Mac soll aber bald folgen. Scheint eine Art Frontier mit eingebautem Blogging-Tool und Podcast-Unterstützung zu sein. Also so ziemlich genau das, was ich hier in meinem Blog mit (Open Source) Frontier veranstalte, nur daß das Ergebnis auf einem Server bei hosting.opml.org landet. Dabei scheint der Synchronisationsmechanismus von Radio UserLand verwendet zu werden, den ich bei Frontier noch vermisse. Sobald die Mac-Version draußen ist, werde ich das Teil einmal testen...
